Casper's

Casper's Restaurant in downtown Springfield. It is open from the day after Labor Day (the first Monday in September) through the last Friday in May. There are only 29 seats, and they are usually full, often with a line out the door. The specialty is chili, but you can also get hamburgers, hot dogs, stew, and a few other items, as well as two or more choices of desserts. For a complete history, visit http://www.springfieldmo.org/ektron2/uploadedFiles/caspers.pdf.

That's the kind of place I like to visit when I'm on the road. Nice shots.

I love little joints like that. I really like the inside shot showing the decor.

Ah. A piece of Americana. I like the interior image best. Good shot.

Yep, real Americana. Great shots that convey a real sense of "being there".

Excellent photo :) Stuff like this needs to be photographed. These things seem to fade away into oblivion as time rolls on...

What a great looking place - like all the posters on the ceiling and the colors. The idea of eating a good bowl of chili in this place sounds like heaven.

I don't recall ever hearing about that place. Very fascinating story. The recipe blowing under her windshield wiper must have been fate... I can't imagine making chili without tomatoes or onions... very curious on this one!

NICE PICTURE!! I live in Springfield and Casper's is a cool dive place in here. Someone commented on it getting so hot in the summer, but they close all summer. It is only open a few months of the year and it's packed everyday. I was wondering when you took that photo. The gal at the register looks just like my friend jennifer! ??
If you're ever back in town go to Pappy's on main street. They have beer! So cold! It's a Springfield classic.
