Gillioz Theatre

The Gillioz Theatre first opened on October 11, 1926, in downtown Springfield. It remained open until 1979. It has been restored and recently reopened. Looks like a lovely old theater. We have a similar one here but I have never made photos inside it before...

Great image that captures the underlying history of the building: you can just feel the generations of people who have enjoyed being there.

Can you just smell the 'old'? I love stories like this. Restoring old things and preserving it for the future generations is an honorable feat that is usually not a profitable one. I have grown up in this city and may have even walked past this old theater but never realized the beauty within. Your photos of this building are amazing. I really like the one with the door and Isle seats.
bravo for your first weeks shot! I'm so excited to see the rest!

Great exposure and the colors are wonderful. I'd love to watch a show in a theater like this.

The walls in this building look like they have leather covering them (although I assume it is really wallpaper). They certainly give the room a rich feel. Nicely photographed.

Rich, warm colors. The seats look so close together though. Guess they aren't made for comfort.
