This is the Greene County Courthouse. It is the fourth and current courthouse, and was built in 1912. It is located in the north part of downtown Springfield.
Edited to upload a larger version of the same shot. I had posted this to the Where I Live side challenge on DPC and used the same file here. Thought I would take Puzzled's suggestion and use a larger file size.

Wonderful colors!!! I think it would be great if you could post your pictures just a tiny bit bigger. This is one of my favorites (sorry I'm late in commenting, though :-)
Very cool blog. Check out mine.
great light on this one....looks like a postcard
Very cool shot. Thanks for the notes -- I'm learning a lot!
Well done! I like the angle you chose and the placement of the canon in the frame.
I had been searching for a picture of the courthouse for quite some time for my son's criminal justice class. I had all but given up on finding one since they don't exist in any city, county, or state website, nor on the Historical Societies web pages. A friend sent me the link to your picture and I'm impressed with the blog and the quality of the photos contained here on.
